EBM in the Mile-high City, by Peggy Makie

If evidence-based medicine was to be compared to a fashion show, the Institute for Evidence-based Practice for Medical Librarians would be its “Fashion Week.” Down its runway tailored study designs and structured clinical questions went on display for the 37 participants to review and critique. The Institute, in its seventh year, has a new home at the University of Colorado in Denver.  I was able to attend this year with the help of an NCNMLG professional development grant.

This spring I was honored to receive an NCNMLG Professional Development Grant to partially fund my attendance at the 2014 Medical Library Association Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Chicago during May.

This was the first time I have attended this meeting. By attending, I had hoped to learn more about what is happening in academic health sciences librarianship and make connections with librarians from other institutions. The experience surpassed my expectations. Continue reading
