{"id":50,"date":"2015-04-06T21:51:12","date_gmt":"2015-04-06T21:51:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ncnmlg.mlanet.org\/main\/?page_id=50"},"modified":"2023-05-15T11:27:07","modified_gmt":"2023-05-15T18:27:07","slug":"awards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ncnmlg.mlanet.org\/main\/?page_id=50","title":{"rendered":"Grants &#038; Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NCNMLG Professional Development Grant<\/strong><br \/>\nThe NCNMLG Professional Development grant program has been created to support NCNMLG members\u2019 professional development activities including attendance at classes, conferences and meetings and to provide NCNMLG members with the opportunity to increase their competence in the theoretical, administrative and\/or technical aspects of librarianship and information management.<\/p>\n<p>Eligibity:<br \/>\nApplicants must be a regular member of NCNMLG.<\/p>\n<p>Awards:<br \/>\nNCNMLG distributes $4,000 in awards per year, $2,000 in the spring and $2,000 in the fall. There is a limit of $1,000 on each individual award.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<br \/>\nPersons given the award must complete the program within a twelve-month period. Once the program has been completed, the awardee must write a short article for the NCNMLG blog on their experience, or deliver a presentation during an NCNMLG membership meeting. The purpose of this award is to recognize members for long-term contributions to NCNMLG and to health sciences librarianship. Criteria for the award include the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidate has <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonstrated sustained and excellent achievement and made significant <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contributions towards the advancement of health sciences librarianship.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidate has demonstrated distinguished service in health sciences librarianship in the areas of mentoring and service to the profession, institution, and\/or community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidate is a member (active or emeritus) of NCNMLG at the time of nomination and has been an active contributor to NCNMLG, which could include serving on committees, holding elected positions, and participating in Joint Meeting planning.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recipients receive a check for $350.00 and a commemorative plaque.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1c9Avyb8AU683pizregzv9QQd5f5ZFQZHlQDlD9nDq0c\/edit?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rubric for Ysabel Bertolucci Award for Professional Excellence<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please submit your nominations via email to: cosharifi at usfca.edu in the form of a brief narrative describing the nominee\u2019s contributions to health sciences librarianship and NCNMLG. NCNMLG Spectrum Scholars are invited to shadow NCNMLG members at regional universities, hospitals and medical centers. The Locke Morrisey Professional Development Grant for Spectrum Scholars provides funding for travel, meals, and accommodations during their visits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn more about here the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/advocacy\/spectrum\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Library Association Spectrum Scholar program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Emeritus\/Emerita Member Status<\/strong><br \/>\nAn NCNMLG member who has belonged to the Group for at least ten years at the time of retirement may apply for emeritus status by noting their request on the first Membership Renewal form received following retirement.<\/p>\n<p>Following return of the form and confirmation of the membership informaiton by the Membership Committee, the member will be notified by the Chair of the Awards and Honors Committee that status has been granted. A copy of the awrd letter to hospital librarian applicants will be sent on their behalf to the Hospital Library Section of the Medical LIbrary Association, unless otherwise requested.
