Upcomming TOXNET Class & CERT Training

CERT Training Group

CERT Training Group

I have just completed the initial portion of the Community Emergency Response Team Training (CERT).   — (I am in the second row 3rd from the right in the picture ).

This FEMA Training Class was conducted by the Palo Alto & Stanford Fire Departments, Paramedics, and the Palo Alto Office of Emergency Services. The course covered information on medical operations, triage, fire suppression, and light search and rescue. I plan to take additional courses available to CERT Members in the coming year.

Besides supplying information, Librarians have played key roles in Disaster Management. If you are interested in hands on involvement consider taking a CERT CLASS. You can find local opportunities and information at this link: http://www.fema.gov/community-emergency-response-teams

I want to remind NCNMLG MEMBERS about the upcoming TOXNET Class to be held on February 27th 2014 in San Francisco. This free class is a great way to familiarize or re-familiarize yourself with this useful database. The course provides six MLA Continuing Education Credits. More information and a link to registration is available at: http://nnlm.gov/ntcc/classes/class_details.html?class_id=5

Wishing Everyone Safe & Happy Holidays
